I’ve been having such a great time with your students! Below are some upcoming dates and also information about September:
The Unique unit for September is Government – We Have Rights. We will be reading the Unique books: We Have Rights, Can That Happen in the USA?, Our Rights, and We Have Responsibilities – in addition to some extra books to discuss text features. In writing we will brainstorm things (at school or home) we want to make better and write a petition. In math we will work on addition and subtraction using number line or objects/ pictures. We will also discuss place value, time and money. We will cook as a class for the first time in September. We’ll be making a Peanut Butter Face (with rice cake, peanut butter, apple slices and raisins), Tortilla Roll-ups (with tortilla and cream cheese) and Freedom Candy (rice crispy cereal and chocolate). In Social Studies we’ll be talking about the Bill of Rights and Government. Our main STEAM activity will be Equal Balance – making our own scale to determine which objects are heaver or lighter.
